Re: ArmadaCon 2022 Guest James Burgess

That's good. Armadacon has a tradition of "obscure" guests who turn out to rock.

("Obscure" in this case often means ones I personally haven't heard of.)

Look forward to seeing him and hopefully other guests as well.

Re: Fort Salem

If there are any fans of this series out there, season 3 is now being screened in the USA.

There is a free and legal way to watch it in in the UK

https://www.abcspark.ca/shows/motherland-fort-salem/

NB: Episodes are only up there for two weeks, and E1 has only three days left! So hurry!

Re: The Doctor is back!!

Well, I've just finished the Dr Who Easter Special, 'The Legend of the Sea-Devils' and . . . it wasn't bad. I'll keep this, if not entirely spoiler free certainly spoiler light, so . . . Let's get the negative bits out the way: a touch too much techno-babble, some dodgy CGI junk sails, some less tha...

Re: My first ArmadaCon

Hello there, welcome aboard.

Armadacon is, I guess, a multi-media con in that there are people with all sorts of interests attending. But as David says people who enjoying reading SF & fantasy, as well as watching it, are well represented.

Cuckoo Song on Netflix

Announced today on Francis Hardinge's twitter feed, Netflix will be adapting Cuckoo Song. Yay! You can read about it here: https://variety.com/2020/tv/global/netflix-uk-original-series-slate-1234852613/ I will admit that having read the description I feel a slight degree of trepidation i.e. I hope t...

Re: So which book(s) are you reading at the moment?

'The Second Sleep' by Robert Harris, which was recently featured in the Hangman thread. As mentioned there it's a novel set in the year 1461 (I think) but taking it's date from the Apocalypse. It's not bad, kinda intended as an awful warning at how little resilience there is in our present day socie...

Re: So which book(s) are you reading at the moment?

Recently finished a couple: Firstly, 'Artemis' by Andy Weir. It's a near future heist caper novel set on the moon-city of Artemis. The heroine is a young woman, Jazz, who is one of those lovable rouge characters. Definitely a law breaker, but she's got her principles. I thought it was a fun read, an...

Re: Anyone for a game of Hangman?

Indeed it is David. Robert Harris' post-apocalyptic novel where people seem to get up halfway through the night, and then go back to bed for The Second Sleep.

And now, over to you David.

 I guess they got stuck in what they thought were the middle-ages, but turned out to be more modern.
