Sound like a right bunch of ner-do-wells.

There's certainly something fishy about them.

They're not a nice bunch, but then again neither are their rivals in this anti-authoritarian children's book.

Hmmm. Has the author been a guest at Armadacon?

If I'm right this is a book I've never read, but I remember the review from White Dwarf which, rightly or wrongly, left me feeling that it probably wasn't my cup of tea, but either way, is the answer The Borribles?

Not, as far as I can google, never an Armadacon guest but it is The Borribles by Michael de Larrabeiti.
A friend mentioned enjoying it because this bunch of scalawags go and beat up the Wombles, and the last puzzle reminded me of it. Having read the plot summary it's a bit darker than he suggested, and the Kindle sample of the first few chapters is sufficiently interesting as dark urban fantasy that I'm tempted to pick it up.
Over to you Jasper :D

Well, just as there are no werewolves on screen - don't know about the book yet - there's no N in the answer.
