Future Inns & Armadacon 30.

Post by Geoffrey(aka Jasper) » Wed Jun 26, 2019 6:36 pm

Attended Mumuration, the Rivers of London mini-convention on Saturday 22nd June. It was a great. But while attending Lorraine and I stayed at the Future Inns Plymouth.

Now back at Armadacon 30 things weren’t quite right at the Inn, some doors needed repairing and some of the rooms were cold, well happy to report that it seemed okay. Caveat: we didn’t check out any of the function spaces and one swallow does not a summer make, but it all seemed okay.

Food in the restaurants was good, staff friendly and helpful. Okay, a couple of minor gripes, cleaning of our room was a bit haphazard and one of lift buttons needed a bit of welly to work. But our gripes were listened to.

So, all-in-all, I think the Future Inn Plymouth will prove a good venue for Armadacon 2019.

Isn't it Armadacon 31 this year?

I'll be booking my room for this years Con on Saturday (Then I'm off to the Model Show at the Guildhall).

Relieved to hear that and also reminded that I need to book my room for November.

Just to let everyone know. I went to the Hotel today and booked my room for this years Con. The price? £213.60. That includes breakfast.

Just went to the website to book and no rooms available - Eeek!
However, as no dates are available it looks like a website issue. I'll leave it until my day off and give them a call. I'll have to anyway as they haven't added my loyalty points from last year which should put me well on the way to a free 2 night stay including breakfast :^)

Future Inns seem to have sorted out the problems with their online booking system :^)
The 3 nights for the price of 2 offer is back on, if you don't select the loyalty reward rate :^) Which seems to be the same as the rate you were charged Spudgun.
Breakfast has gone up from £9 to £12 per person :^( but hopefully this means that the quality which has been heading downhill for the last few years will improve.

If you aren't bothered about collecting reward points Booking.com is worth checking out. Room rates are the same but rates including breakfast are cheaper.

This information put the 'special' room rate quoted on the Con website into perspective.

As Armadacon doesn't have a room allocation to fill in order get a deal on the function space I don't mind sharing bargains when I spot them.
The Armadacon rate does have the advantage of being fixed so those booking rooms at the last minute don't get penalty priced.
